International Award Winning Songwriter and Hall Of Fame Member Shaza Leigh

Shaza Leigh is a multifaceted powerhouse in the Australian country music industry, celebrated as a singer, songwriter, musician, presenter, producer, and manager. With 17 career albums and a catalogue of over 400 songs recorded by herself and other leading artists, she has maintained consistent chart success across genres ranging from contemporary ballads and bush ballads to gospel and country rock. Her self-penned debut single became a national top-10 hit in 1990, launching a prolific songwriting career that includes numerous award-winning collaborations and solo works.

Her performance career spans more than three decades, featuring extensive touring across Australia’s remotest areas and major cities. Shaza honed her craft with The Brian Young Outback Tours and has spent the past 30 years working with guitar legend and producer Lindsay Butler OAM. She has starred at all major country festivals, appeared internationally in Nashville and New Zealand, and shared stages with many of the country’s greatest performers. Her artistic excellence has earned her induction into The Women’s Wall of Fame (2001), The Australian Country Music Wall of Honour (2004), and The Hands of Fame (2006), alongside 12 Qld Female Vocalist of the Year titles, six National Songwriter of the Year titles (Aust), four National Composer of the Year titles (Aust), and the inaugural “Global Songwriter of the Year” award (2026).

Beyond performing, Shaza is a dedicated industry leader and mentor. As a partner in LBS Music, she has helped develop new talent, with the label earning Independent Record Company of the Year in 2000 and reaching its 200th album release. Her contributions have been recognized with The Cedar Hat Award, a Tamworth Industry Award, and, significantly, The Order of the Wattle Blossom at the 2020 National Australian Awards for excellence in reflecting Australia’s cultural heritage through music.

Born in North Queensland and raised on a family cane and cattle property in the Whitsundays, Shaza pursued show business over tertiary education, turning a rural childhood into a lifelong passion. She currently lives at LBS MusicLand near Tamworth, Australia’s Country Music Capital, with her husband Lindsay Butler and their son, Lachlan. Known for her philosophy of giving back to the industry that served her, Shaza remains a respected figure who balances artistic creativity with business acumen and community service.
